Improving entry to, and the quality of, helps and providers for older adults and other people with disabilities is an HHS policy precedence and is seen throughout HHS programs. Lastly, analysis of the CAUTI data continues to reveal marked difference in reductions between intensive care and non-intensive care items. Intensive care items have significantly higher SIRs, greater number of catheter-days, and show much less reductions in these indicators of progress than within the non ICU setting. The difference in CAUTI reductions between ICUs and non-ICU settings have been highlighted in evaluation of both NHSN and CUSP for CAUTI information. The 10% aim for CAUTI reduction on this APG effort represents a composite goal that displays higher reductions in non-ICU settings and lesser reductions in ICUs.
